Project Description
The Simo III Wind Park upgrade project in Lapland extends energy output to 93 MW with the addition of new Vestas turbines. The project involves the construction of a 93MW wind farm. It includes the construction of a substation, access roads, a control station and related infrastructure, the installation of 27 wind turbines, transformers and generators, and the laying of transmission lines. On September 30, 2015, Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Vestas) was awarded a contract for supply and installation of 27 V126-3.45MW turbines, and commissioning of the project. Wind farm consists of 3 sites: Leipiö II, Halmekangas and Onkalo II. There are altogether 27 pcs G128 Siemens Gamesa WTGs and total capacity is 93 MW. Power production started in summer 2017.
