Tornio Röyttä onshore wind project Puuska

Project Description

In 2010–2011, a wind farm for eight wind turbines was completed in the seafront area of the Outokumpu steel plant in Röyttä. Based on preliminary studies, the area is one of the most potential wind power areas in Finland. The amount of electricity generated by a wind farm corresponds to the amount of electricity used by about 7,000 households per year. The Röyttä wind farm was an investment project of approximately EUR 40 million. In the summer of 2015, the expansion of the wind farm, Puuska 2 of five wind farms, was completed, bringing the total capacity of the entire wind farm to more than 45 MW.
