Piteå, Markbygden Wind Park

Project Description

It will be the biggest land-based wind park in all of Europe, and one of the biggest in the world. Up to 1,100 turbines are planned built on the wide-stretched forest lands near Piteå, northern Sweden. When completed, the Markbygden will have a total production of up to 12 TWh. ------------------Markbygden Wind Park is built in three phases. The wind park comprises altogether 179 wind turbines, and it will be the largest single onshore wind park in Europe with a combined capacity of 750 MW. The development plans of the Markbygden area may eventually lead up to the largest collection of wind farms in Europe, with altogether 1,101 operational wind turbines. Skogberget is the first sub-project of Markbygden Stage 1. The project consists of 36 wind turbines in the eastern part of the Markbygden area. Skogberget has been in full operation since 2015.
