Boliden AB, Kevitsa mine expansion

Project Description

Boliden Kevitsa is one of the biggest open pit mines in Finland. The main products are nickel and copper concentrate and in addition to this also significant amounts of platinum, palladium, gold and cobolt. The Kevitsa open-pit mine in northern Finland was acquired by Boliden in June 2016. The operation, which comprises a mine and a concentrator, went into operation in 2012. The ore concentrates are supplied to our own smelting plant in Harjavalta and Rönnskär. The Kevitsa deposit – first discovered in 1987 – is one of the largest ever mineral discoveries in Finland.
